Charter of Irish Republican Solidarity

Irish Republican Solidarity is an organization dedicated to advancing the principle of Irish self-determination through peaceful, democratic and lawful means. It seeks to promote informed public discussion, preserve Ireland's history and culture, and encourage civic participation among those who support its aims. The organization is founded on the belief that political engagement, education, community involvement and international solidarity are essential to achieving lasting social and constitutional change. This charter establishes the purpose, principles, governance, and standards by which the Irish Republican Solidarity shall operate.

Article i — Name

Section 1:

The name of the organisation shall be Irish Republican Solidarity.

Section 2:

The organisation may use the abbreviation IRS for administrative purposes.

Article ii — Purpose

Section 1:

IRS promotes Irish self-determination, preserves and shares Ireland's republican heritage, builds educational and cultural projects, and works with like-minded organizations at home and abroad, always through peaceful and lawful means.

Article iii — Activities

Section 1:

The organization shall engage with the public through information stands, leafleting, door-to-door engagement, and public meetings, as well as interviews and community outreach intended to encourage informed public discussion.

Section 2:

The organization shall preserve, promote, and celebrate Irish history, culture, language, and republican heritage through educational projects, publications, digital media, commemorative initiatives, and collaboration with educators, historians, and content creators.

Section 3:

The organization shall campaign in support of a united Ireland and its wider political objectives, through public advocacy, civic engagement, educational initiatives, and other activities consistent with this charter.

Section 4:

It may support fundraising appeals and awareness campaigns organized by individuals, communities, or organizations whose objectives are compatible.

Section 5:

It may work in partnership with content creators, community groups, researchers, historians, or other organizations where such cooperation advances its educational, cultural, or civic objectives.

Section 6:

It may organize conferences, lectures, exhibitions, commemorative events, training sessions, and other initiatives that promote political education and public participation.

Section 7:

The activities set out in this article may be amended in accordance with the amendment procedures established by this charter.

Article iv — Amendments

Section 1:

The organization may refine or expand its activities through a two-thirds majority vote at a quorate meeting. Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to the governing body. If approved, the charter is updated with the new version number and date.

Article v — Membership

Section 1:

Membership of the organization shall be open to any individual who supports the aims, principles, and objectives set out in this charter, agrees to abide by its provisions and policies, and is accepted in accordance with the membership procedures.

Section 2:

Applicants must provide required information, affirm support for the charter, and agree to abide by its provisions. The Executive Committee reviews each application, may request clarification, and decides approval or refusal in the best interests of the organization and in line with this charter.

Article vi — Code of Conduct

Section 1:

Every member shall conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values, objectives, and reputation of the organization, acting with honesty, integrity, and respect in all activities undertaken on its behalf.

Section 2:

Members shall treat one another, members of the public, and representatives of other organizations with dignity and respect. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or abusive conduct shall not be tolerated.

Section 3:

Members shall comply with this charter, any policies or procedures adopted by the organization, and any lawful decisions made by the Executive Committee or authorized bodies.

Section 4:

Members shall not knowingly act in any manner that brings the organization into disrepute or undermines its aims.

Section 5:

Where a member is alleged to have seriously breached this code, the Executive Committee may investigate in accordance with disciplinary procedures and may impose appropriate sanctions, up to and including suspension or termination of membership where justified.
